[This resource is one of many included in our Tell Me Something Good Lent Bundle.]

DIGITAL DOWNLOAD FOR ONE-TIME LICENSE

This interactive, skit-based children’s curriculum contains 7 weeks of lessons for Lent through Easter. The lessons include a variety of ways for children (approximately ages 5–11) to explore the Tell Me Something Good sub-themes and Gospel stories, through rejoicing together in song, telling the story through skits, and engaging further with the theme through crafts, books, and games.

Inspired by the tradition of reading the passion narrative on Palm/Passion Sunday, the accompanying Lenten play tells the good news of Jesus' ministry from his first miracle in Cana to the resurrection. The Act I scenes follow our Tell Me Something Good focal texts for Lent, while the Act II scenes follow Jesus' final week, from the triumphal entry to the tomb. A final Easter Epilogue closes the play as a reminder that death does not have the last word. This play is designed for an intergenerational cast and an audience of all ages. It can be staged at any point during the season.

By focusing on Peter, we imagine how we might have acted and behaved had we been there as one of Jesus’ followers and friends.

This interactive skit-based children’s curriculum contains 6 weeks of lessons that sequentially follow the story of Jesus and John’s births found in Luke 1–3. Each of the 6 lessons includes a main idea, an opening song suggestion, a scripture skit, time for questions and discussion, a prayer, and suggestions for games, books, and creative expression to further engage the theme. In addition, we’ve provided colorable characters from the scripture skits that may be printed and colored to stage puppet shows, placed in worship bags, or sent home with children.

As the scripture skits for each week in the series flow from one to the other, they may be performed sequentially as an Advent or Christmas pageant. A full pageant script—including staging options, costume suggestions, and an original musical interlude—is included with the curriculum. The download includes sheet music and rehearsal tracks for the musical interlude, written for an SATB choir with two soloists accompanied on piano.

For those who have experienced loss, the joy of the holiday season can often feel elusive and out of reach. As a result, churches around the world have adopted the practice of having a “Blue Christmas”' or a “Longest Night” service during the Advent season. These services are designed to provide space for prayer, reflection, and remembrance amidst the twinkle lights and holiday hustle and bustle. Instead of advertising this as a “Blue Christmas” or “Longest Night Service,” we are calling this a “Service for the Weary,” inspired by our Advent theme.

Both a full order of worship designed for congregational worship (in-person and/or virtually) and an at-home liturgy for individuals are included. We hope that these words and this order of worship can be a gift to individuals and communities alike, providing a space of calm, quiet, and healing.

In this event, we hope to move beyond small talk to practice curiosity, listening, and connection to create a unique conversation-based worship service that might provide fellowship, connection, and a glimpse of the holy. At this one hour event, people will gather, hear scripture read, engage in thirty minutes of intentional and guided conversation with their neighbors as the sermon moment, and close with prayer and Holy Communion.

When we feel helpless and hopeless, God’s holy “and” encourages us to lift our weary eyes to search for more. To best serve your needs, we’ve provided multiple formats for printing and distributing the star words to your congregation, along with an accompanying liturgy for Epiphany Sunday. We’ve also provided ideas for how you might use the star words as a daily, child-friendly devotional throughout the season of Advent if you prefer to use them in that way.

For each lesson, you’ll find a main message, songs to sing together, questions to open the session, a script for teaching the scripture, a short prayer, and an extension activity that requires little preparation and few (if any) supplies. God’s plan to enter the world in human flesh seems so perilous—so much could and did go wrong. This led to the question, what if God had waited?

And yet, God couldn’t wait. God couldn’t wait to be love known in flesh and bone—and neither should we.

Imagine the Communion Table changing throughout the Unraveled series. First, torn fabric dresses it. Throughout the worship series, the congregation will take torn strips from the Table installation to create beautifully-woven fabric medallions. In worship, members can write prayers on fabric strips that will get woven into the medallions. Throughout the series, the unraveled components in the Table installation will diminish and transform into beautiful woven, round tapestries.

This project tangibly portrays God’s presence in our moments of unraveling as well as the promise that God hems us in—behind and before. When our plans fall apart, may God weave us together with love.

While we do trust and believe that the Spirit of the Living God is always present in worship with us, we also know that it is easy for our human selves to miss it. These reflection and planning pages are designed for those longing to be intentional about their own worship experience or worship planning.

For clergy, we have created a preaching prep page with creative brainstorming space and reflection questions to help you craft cohesive worship experiences.

For those in the pews, we have designed a worship reflection page that invites a kinesthetic note-taking or doodling response to the scripture and sermon.

Worship should not make us go on autopilot. It should be intentional. We hope and pray these resources will support your intentional practices—communally and individually.

Peace Poem, 'Til the Bird Flies Home (John 20:19-23)
    $5.00

    Written by: Sarah Are
"In a world that so strongly lacks peace, I was drawn to Jesus' words from the gospel of John—included in this year’s lectionary for Pentecost. These words of peace are some of Jesus' first words immediately following his crucifixion. On the tail end of violence, Jesus still whispers peace—and not once, but over and over again, speaking directly to the disciples’ fears."

'Til the Bird Flies Home is a short poem reflecting on the startling peace Jesus offers, even after death. What does peace feel like? How do we hold it, share it, and set it free? We encourage you to offer this poetry as spoken word in your worship.

Stations of the Cross Graphic Art Series w/ Companion Guide
    $75.00

[This resource is one of many in our Holy Week Bundle]

    DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ONLY

    By: Lauren Wright Pittman

The Stations of the Cross is an ancient meditative pilgrimage inviting the spiritually hungry to walk the “Way of Sorrows” with Jesus to his death on Calvary hill. Traditionally depicted in fourteen visuals, the Stations highlight pivotal moments in Jesus’ final hours. This graphic art rendition of the Stations by Lauren Wright Pittman nods to tradition while imagining Jesus’ journey toward crucifixion through a modern lens. In twelve black and white images, this series condenses the version Pope John Paul II introduced on Good Friday in 1991. Stripped down and textured, these visuals highlight the metaphorical and emotional layers of Jesus’ journey toward his last breaths.

We encourage you to print this series on large poster paper (see printing info below) to install it as an art exhibit in your church or community. Distribute copies of the Companion Guide for participants to read and reflect as they journey through the Stations. Companion Guide includes the scripture, visual prompts, an artist reflection, and prayer for each Station. Final page includes prompts for group discussion or individual reflection on the Stations as a whole. To purchase the Companion Guide separately, please click here.

Poetry Reflections w/ Liturgy for Maundy Thursday
    $10.00

[This resource is one of many in our Holy Week Bundle]

    DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ONLY

    Written by: Sarah Are

This resource offers poetry reflections (to be offered as spoken word in lieu of a traditional sermon) on three elements present in the narrative of Jesus' final hours: water (foot washing), bread (the Last Supper), and silver (Judas' betrayal). Poetry reflections are integrated within a full Maundy Thursday order of worship.

It starts with water—just as creation started—rooting us in baptism and the knowledge that we are claimed and known by God. The service progresses to Communion, where we are eschatologically reminded that there is always room at the table for us, and that Jesus—fully human, fully God—indeed walked this earth with dusty feet and ate with his friends. Finally, in the turn to silver, we come face to face with our forgetful and flawed nature. We are reminded how easily we can turn from the promise of baptism and the beauty of Communion to betrayal.

    "Fast for Justice"
Painting & Film by Lisle Gwynn Garrity

This film blends visual and spoken poetry from Joel 2 and Isaiah 58 to offer a meditation on how to cultivate our spiritual practices into faithful action during the Lenten season. Beginning with the darkness and gloom imagery from Joel 2, the painting shifts to show how, when we fast for justice, our light breaks open into the darkness like the dawn of a new day.

We hope this film offers a fresh way of hearing these ancient prophecies, while inviting meditation on our spiritual practices and how we are to work for the justice and well-being of all God’s people.
