The Stations of the Cross is an ancient meditative pilgrimage inviting the spiritually hungry to walk the “Way of Sorrows” with Jesus to his death on Calvary hill. Traditionally depicted in fourteen visuals, the Stations highlight pivotal moments in Jesus’ final hours. This graphic art rendition of the Stations by Lauren Wright Pittman nods to tradition while imagining Jesus’ journey toward crucifixion through a modern lens. In twelve black and white images, this series condenses the version Pope John Paul II introduced on Good Friday in 1991. Stripped down and textured, these visuals highlight the metaphorical and emotional layers of Jesus’ journey toward his last breaths.
We encourage you to print this series on large poster paper (see printing info below) to install it as an art exhibit in your church or community. Distribute copies of the Companion Guide for participants to read and reflect as they journey through the Stations. Companion Guide includes the scripture, visual prompts, an artist reflection, and prayer for each Station. - Print-ready version of the Companion Devotional Guide (for printing black & white on 8.5x11 sheets to be folded in half into a 8.5x5.5 booklet). Companion Guide includes scripture, visual prompts, artist reflections, and prayers for all of the stations. Questions on the Stations as a whole are included at the end for group discussion or individual reflection.
Printing Info:
We recommend printing the Stations in either 18x24 or 24x36 so that the visuals are prominent and viewable for groups. We recommend using Staples (or your local print shop) to print them as black and white engineering prints. See rates below:

The Companion Devotional Guide prints in black and white, double-sided on 8 pages total. It is formatted to print on 8.5x11 sheets and be folded in half to become an 8.5x5.5 booklet. When printing double-sided, choose "short edge to short edge" or "head to head" for the correct layout.
Display Ideas:
- Mount the posters on black card stock or foam board (to create a "frame") and display them as a temporary gallery in your church
- Frame the posters and display them as a permanent gallery in your church
