Raise Up
Inspired by John 2: 13-22

“This passage of Jesus in the temple comes at the very beginning of the Gospel of John, chapter 2. There is no manger scene or visit from the wise ones in John. Instead, we launch straight into Jesus’ adult life where we hear him prophesying about his death. At the start, Jesus tells us of the end. In other words, in the midst of a frantic and emotional temple scene, Jesus is already hinting at what is to come. I did not want to miss that moment, for the process of standing at the start and looking toward the end feels a lot like Lent to me. In Lent, we walk the walk to Jerusalem bringing our whole selves—heart, mind, body and spirit—with us, trusting that, step-by-step and block-by-block, we will make it to the resurrection.”
