From the Artist:
“The gospel texts for Easter lead us through the moments and days after Jesus is risen from the tomb. Doubt and proof take center stage as disciple after disciple fails to see Jesus as himself. Again and again, Jesus reveals his identity and proves his humanity to beloved followers through simple acts. He breaks bread. He eats fish. He shows the holes in his hands.
It is through the simple acts of humanity that we continue to reveal God’s presence in the world. We listen to one another. We choose kindness. We achieve integrity. We build justice. Our daily striving to deliver God’s love to the world is depicted by Easter lilies in this painting. Fragile yet strong, the flowers represent God’s new creation in the world through the hands of Her children. Shadow and light in the background portray the empty tomb. This year, what path are you called to walk with Jesus from the tomb? Which are the gifts of new creation that God is presenting to the world through your precious hands?”
